Overall ideation

The Idea of this project is to make an Interactive installation about human gestures. The installation will be an interactive hologram. Where the audience can have interactivity with the Installation and get more information about differences in gestures from the installation itself.

Problem Identification

Some people tend to did not realize that sometimes our gestures could have different meaning in other culture. For example is “thumbs up” is a gesture that we usually know as a “good” sign. But in some country or culture like Russia, Greece and West Africa, “thumbs up” is a sign of an insult. People tend to did not realize that simple move they made could be a funny moment for others, or even themselves. Not all gesture could be funny. This is because not every gesture has the same meaning. Each gesture could be having different meaning from a different perspective and use.

Aim and Objectives

The aim of this study is to show the audience the different of people movement and gesture, every move or gestures have their own meaning. The meaning of each gesture could be different in some culture or even for each individual.

Motivation

Gestures are interesting, human gestures are different from many perspectives. Each culture have their own gesture to say hello or to point something out. With gestures each individual can communicate to each other non-verbal. To make an interesting thing and make people do a non-verbal communication with movement.

Ideation

Every individual has a different movement. Every race, nationality has their own way of communicating with or through movement. Each gesture from different race or nationality could have different meaning and implementation, even with the same gesture.

Gestures

Gesture is a form of non-verbal communication that human use as addition to completing verbal communication and/or to replace verbal communication. For some country like Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, the “thumbs up” is a gesture usually known as a “good” sign. But in some country or culture like Russia, Greece and West Africa, “thumbs up” is a sign of an insult.

Capture random movement of audience and play it back in hologram form for another people to see.
